Manitoba PNP: How to Immigrate to Manitoba in 2024
In this page you will find everything you need to know to be successful to live and work in Manitoba and gain permanent residency.

Manitoba, located between Ontario and Saskatchewan, is known as the gateway to western Canada. It was the first province to launch a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) in 1998 to attract skilled immigrants

Initially, the MPNP welcomed 418 immigrants in its first year. Now, it nominates over 5,000 immigrants annually. The program has significantly boosted Manitoba’s GDP, which would be up to 30% lower without it.

Benefits of the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP)

    • Targets skilled workers, tradespeople, and professionals needed in the local labor market.
    • Provides a pathway to Canadian permanent residency for selected nominees.
    • 85% employment rate within three months of arrival.
    • 76% homeownership rate within five years.
    • 95% family settlement rate in the community.
    • Offers competitive wages, safe working conditions, and generous benefits.
    • Provides an affordable lifestyle with high-quality government services, including health care and education.

    What is Manitoba PNP?

The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) is a set of immigration pathways that help foreign nationals become Canadian permanent residents. It aims to attract:

    • Skilled workers
    • Workers in sectors with labor shortages
    • Recent graduates
    • Agricultural entrepreneurs to benefit the province.

The MPNP has a base and enhanced streams. Enhanced streams align with the federal Express Entry system, giving candidates an extra 600 CRS points. It guarantees an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence.

On the other hand, Base streams require candidates to apply directly to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

Objective of the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP)
    • Align immigration with Manitoba’s industrial and economic priorities.
    • Respond to the province’s labor market conditions and skill shortages.
    •  Ensure positive net population growth through immigration.
    • Maintain a high retention rate of skilled immigrants within Manitoba.
    •  Increase migration to rural areas within the province.
    • Encourage business investments and job creation by newcomers.
    • Foster overall economic growth and increase Manitoba’s GDP.

    Manitoba PNP Streams

The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) offers three main streams. These help you immigrate to Manitoba and become a Canadian permanent resident:

    1. Skilled Worker Stream

This stream is tailored to the needs of Manitoba employers. It selects workers with skills needed in the local labor market. It has two pathways:

    • Skilled Worker in Manitoba (SWM): For those already working in Manitoba.
    • Skilled Worker Overseas (SWO): For those who have relevant skills and experience from outside Canada.

    2. International Education Stream

Designed for international students graduating from designated Manitoba post-secondary institutions. This stream provides a faster path to nomination. It includes three pathways:

    • Career Employment Pathway: For students with job offers in Manitoba.
    • Graduate Internship Pathway: For graduates who have completed internships.
    • International Student Entrepreneur Pilot (ISEP): For graduates who want to start a business in Manitoba.

Note: International students from other Canadian provinces may be eligible under the Skilled Worker in Manitoba Pathway.

    3. Business Investor Stream

    • Entrepreneur Pathway (EP): For those aiming to open a business in Manitoba.
    • Farm Investor Pathway (FIP): For those planning to establish and run a farm in rural Manitoba.
