    What is the Ontario PNP?

    The Ontario PNP is a provincial nominee program, also known as the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). It is an economic immigration program in the province that allows Ontario to hire foreign nationals.

    • The Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) makes the final decision.

    1. Employer job offer category

    The employer job offer category has three streams. You must have a full-time and permanent job offer from an Ontario employer to qualify.

    • Skilled Trades stream: for workers with work experience in Ontario in an eligible trade occupation

    4. Business category

    The business category has one stream. You must be an entrepreneur from outside of Canada who is looking to implement a new business idea or buy and grow an existing business in Ontario.

     

     

    What are the Eligibility Criteria for Ontario PNP?

    The eligibility for Ontario PNP depends on the specific immigration program. You must understand the criteria before you apply.

    There are three ways you may qualify for a nomination:

    • Employer job offer category: for workers who already have a permanent job offer from an Ontario employer
    • Human capital category: for workers who have valuable work experience, education, language skills, and a profile in Canada’s Express Entry system; or for graduate students
    • Business category: for entrepreneurs looking to start a new or buy an existing business in Ontario

    The requirements for Ontario PNP differ. It is dependent on the immigration program you apply for.

    Requirements of the job offer:

    • It must be permanent and full-time employment.
    • The wage must be the same or more like that of the median wage level in the province.
    • The job must be listed under NOC A, B or 0
    • The work must be in Ontario.
    • The job must benefit the employer's business.

    Requirements of the employer:

    • Annual revenue for the latest fiscal year
      • $ 500,000 for a report to work or work located outside the Greater Toronto Area
      • $ 1000,000 for a report to work or work located within the Greater Toronto Area
    • Must sign the Employer form
    • Must have a minimum of 3 full-time employees outside the Greater Toronto Area

    Documents Needed for the Ontario PNP Visa

    The documents needed for applying to the Ontario PNP vary. It may change depending on the immigration program you apply.

    But, some basic documents are essential. These are:

    • Identity proof
    • Valid passport
    • Proof of funds
    • Settlement plan
    • Investment funds (if needed)
    • Job offer (if needed)
    • Language skill results
    • Medical examination reports

    How to Apply for the Ontario PNP?

    To apply for the Ontario PNP, you can opt for any of the ways.

    There are 2 pathways. These are:

    • Step 1: Check out the eligibility criteria of the various immigration programs
    • Step 2: Select the most suitable immigration stream.
    • Step 3: Send an EOI (Expression of Interest) to the OINP

    (Or)

    • Step 4: You can apply directly to the program

    If you submit the EOI, then:

    • Step 1: Your application enters into a pool
    • Step 2: Ontario PNP will assess your profile
    • Step 3: The highest-ranking scores are sent the ITA via email
    • Step 4: You have 90 days to send the completed online application
    • Step 5: Submit the required documents.
    • Step 6: The candidates must attend an in-person interview with the OINP
    • Step 7: After this, the immigrants have to sign the Performance Agreement
    • Step 8: Then the province of Ontario will issue a Letter of Confirmation
    • Step 9: After this letter is sent to the IRCC, you will get a temporary work permit
    • Step 10: If you meet the terms outlined, you can apply for a provincial nomination
    • Step 11: Wait for the provincial nomination.
    • Step 12: If your application is successful, you will get the OINP Certificate of Nomination
    • Step 13: You must apply for permanent residence.

    Note: It must be sent to Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) within 6 months.

    If you apply directly, then:

    • Step 1: You will get an email confirmation
    • Step 2: If you meet the criteria, you will get:
      • A provincial nomination certificate
        • Work permit support letter
        • Nomination approval letter
    • Step 3: You must apply for permanent residence within 6 months

    • Step 2: Create a profile in the MyCIC account on Express Entry
    • Step 3: Note the job seeker validation code and the Express Entry profile number
    • Step 4: To apply for OINP express entry immigration programs, you must qualify for:
    • Step 5: Your application enters the Express Entry pool
    • Step 6: The province searches for potential candidates
    • Step 7: If you are suitable, you will get the NOI (Notification of Interest)
    • Step 8: Submit your application to the OINP within 45 days
    • Step 9: After submission, you will get an email confirmation
    • Step 10: If you are selected, you will get:
      • A nomination certificate
      • Work permit support letter
      • Nomination approval letter
    • Step 11: Ontario PNP will put the provincial nomination details into the Express Entry
    • Step 12: You must accept the provincial nomination within 30 days
    • Step 13: If you accept, your CRS score will increase by 600 points
    • Step 14: You will then get the ITA (Invitation to Apply)in the Express Entry draw
    • Step 15: You must submit the permanent residency application within 60 days.
